Hi,

does anybody know how to implement "Auto power on" as soon as external power
and USB connection is made?

Need this for remote capturing on CANON SX100 IS

At the moment somebody must press the power switch on the camera  :(

Thanks,
Jure

I dont think this can be implemented, as CHDK does not run when the device is off.

Yep. We don't know of other ways to power a camera on than the mechanical way and the USB voltage way, the latter of which doesn't work on the SX100 according to http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CameraFeatures.

Unless you're ready to take the camera apart and rewire the switch. I'll tell you that'll void the warranty.  ;)

Very many thanks for this information.
As seen on the list "Error S5 IS wakes up automatically.

When needed, I'll buy this camera.

Cheers,
Jure

I bought S5 IS as suggested on your CameraFeatures page.

But:
- The power is 4xAA cells (with DC 7.4V in the side label), not 3.3 as in your table
- The S5 does NOT WAKE UP as stated in your table

Please change the misleading information on your table

Still waiting for the AutoWake Remote Capture camera..............

Thanks,
Jure

Hi Jure,

it's a wiki, everybody can edit...

In the feature chart theres "3.7V" for "Min. USB-Remote Volts", this means the voltage for a USB remote cable, NOT the battery voltage.

The "Wakes up on USB signal?" entry seems to be incorrect (i haven't a S5, so i can't check this), i'll change it...

I wouldn't do that if I were you. DataGhost added that info, he knows his S5 better than anyone. You're seriously going to take the advice of an idiot that doesn't even know the difference between camera power voltages and USB detect voltage? Think about it.

But don't shoot anyone if you buy a camera and the entry turns out to be incorrect... judging from the amount of posts by people that have misunderstood the columns in that table, it's very much possible that someone's fed incorrect data there.
