SX100 IS capabilities with CHDK

I have not been able to increase shutter speed much beyond the Canon defined speed of 1/2500. Where could be the issue.

Also could someone point me to scripts which are safe to run on SX100 IS. I did find some scripts but not sure if they can be run on SX100 IS.

And could some one walk me through usage of scripts. I mean I know you are supposed to press shutter in alt mode, but then nothing happens.

Thanks
V

Your aperture. set it to f/8.0, or override it to f/11. A quick test with my flashlight looks like the speed goes up to 1/40,000.

I dont believe there are 'safe' scripts. Either they'll run, or they wont. The cant harm your camera, just try it out.

Depend on which script you're trying to use.  In the lower left corner of your screen should be a small information about which script is currently loaded. If theres still "Default script" written, you didnt load your script properly.

Go into CHDK main menu -> Scripting parameters -> load script from file.. -> Choose your script with the filebrowser.

Thanks Hacki. Like if I load the script using shutter in alt mode, then am I supposed to get out of <alt> mode and then go to record mode, or do I simply go to record mode. Or should I just wait for the script to start running..

I meant walk through. I am like 2 days old to CHDK, and have just managed to get the thing working. Not that I am a rookie with technology, but it may take a few days to get comfortable with this.

Thanks

Also how is the flashlight test done for shutter speed.

Could you also let me know what script is best for time lapse photographs with SX100 IS?

Cheers
V

Well.. simple.. just hold a strong flashlight (have one with LEDs, quite bright) in front of your cam, and increase the shutter speed.. You'll see when the resulting image stops changing brightness. It does not give the exact shutter speed, but it'll give you a clue how fast it goes.

Oh I already tried this method of checking shutter speed with the room light bulb, and hence came to a conclusion that it was not working beyond 1/2500 speed.

I know there are a lot of scripts there for time lapse, just not sure which one is tested on sx100 IS.

Thanks
V
