SLR-Like shortcuts + auto display brightness

Since I've installed CHDK I've never used the half-press+key shortcuts, except inadvertently, and then I had to go into the menu to restore the settings. What I'm more interested in is to have quick control over exposure and/or iso.
Example: half press+up = exposure + 1/3
               half press + right = ISO*2
              (and the reverse stuff)

Another useful feature, at least concerning for battery life, would be to automatically dim the display according to scene luminance. Not the computed luminance but the real one. This would ensure that in bright daylight the display will be lit at maximum and at night just how much is needed.

Oops, sorry, 'Fast EV Switch' is already implemented. It would be nice though to have ISO modifier on left/right keys in addition to EV.

For the second feature I think the 'real-time light meter' needs to be implemented, so this is a dependency.

Well, you could always half-press the shutter and have the display change its brightness. Doing it using real-time metering would certainly be nicer, but not a must.

On the other hand, I think you do need the currently experimental functions introduced by DataGhost to change the display brightness, to begin with... Also, I'm not sure if there are any settings other than "on" and "off" for the backlight.

On Dataghost's branch I've seen the display change its brightness. It's not so much the 'whiteness' of the display but the backlight, I think the request was badly formulated.

Yeah, i guess you are referring to the fast ev switch in the collaborative build ("juciphox"), you are right, it still lacks an "auto-update of display" function.
it definitly works on s-series cameras when you enable the built-in canon histogram. Dataghost mentioned somewhere that he *might* find or already found this function on his s5is, but that doesnt mean it will be working on non-s-series cameras.
i'm pretty sure there IS a way that this could work, requires some serious ASM skills, which i lack ;)

Well, the display updates in case of half-press so that's not really a problem.
The problem for me is that EV does not reset to 0 but 0.0032 or something like that. Must be some rounding error.

Was feature to correct EV with half press + up/down included in official build? I can't find this option in misc menu (A620), but it would be usefull for me

Was feature to correct EV with half press + up/down included in official build?

half press + down = focus lock (Canon shortcut)
half press + up = histogram toggle (very old CHDK shortcut)

official build = trunk on assembla.com? Nobody works with it.

As I understand from above links, PhyrePhoX worked on this somewhere in april, starting with S3IS, then included this option for some other cameras

You are right, half-press + down can't be used on A620, but S series has dedicated MF button

PhyrePhoX ?
