Do you want to just compress raw files so that they are smaller, with eg a specific program on your computer to uncompress them, or do *real* lossless jpeg with *real* dng and all the format constraints to be compatible with generic software? I think there is more work to respect all the standards than to actually implement a compression algorithm, and I hate that part

Actually, I've already started writing to code to output hopefully proper CRW. With no compression though, as of yet, but I was planning to implement the proper format, if it's not just too much of a hassle.

A CIFF-compliant RAW writer would be absolutely welcome, LjL. I could care less if it's compressed (I guess my always-available storage capacity in the home for a relatively poor guy isn't being used up enough).
