@DraGoNsLaYer786
...you can also try to "soften" the internal flash with a small piece of paper, sandwich paper or thin toilet paper...

@fvdk,
a good explanation !

By selecting 'ND constant exposure', the shutter-speed is adjusted to give the correct exposure.
I'm not sure, but this is a SDM-only feature, isn't it ?

I'm not sure if it is an exclusive feature of SDM since i don't use any other builds.
My main interest is in stereo photography but SDM also has most of the other features as well and it is very well documented. The Yahoo SDM group also offers a lot of support from other users.

CHDK is general is great and the various builds offer something for everyone but it is easy to get lost on this forum with all its information scattered throughout the posts.

Yeah, that's true - but we all (you also 8) ) can make it (the documentation) better by including our knowledge and experiences in the CHDK wikia  :D

...for me as a non-native-english-spoken that's sometimes not so easy...

Well... English is not my native language either, I'm Dutch  :D

I just started to use CHDK (StereoDatamaker version) a few weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure out what al the extra possibilities are and how to use them.

The problem is that a lot of features require a combination of multiple settings, often in more than one menu and for a newbie like me, these are usualy not very clear.

In photography magazines, when a photo is published, they also print the settings that were used like:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D
1/60 at f8
ISO 200
ND 0.6 grad filter

It would be great if users on this forum would do the same if they have made a new discovery or publish a photo that they have taken. It would than be something like:

Camera: xxx
CHDK version: xxx Downloads - CHDK Wiki
Camera setting: manual / ISO xxx
Flash: Off
Focus: infinity
Shutter override in CHDK 1/250
Script: MDFB-080716-DigicIII.bas Fast MD with burst/preview mode
Script settings: Columns 6 / Rows 6 / Tresshold 15 / Compare interval 5 / trigger delay 5 / Channel 1 / etc......

Maybe too much to ask but it would make things a lot clearer and it would also eliminate all the extra questions  ;)

fvdk,

then perhaps you'll be also interested in this feature ?
This will make life easier, we could "remember" all the settings (the running script, the bracketing settings, the override values...) for a picture, so we could also publish them  :haha

Yes, i would certainly be interested in such a feature, i have the same problem with sorting out all the pictures from HDR or panorama sequences.

In fact, i have that problem twice since i'm shooting in stereo  :D

Uhm, it seems that people are interested in a lot of metadata and for a lot of reasons.

Seeing that implementing "proper" CRW, or DNG, is certainly possible but takes time, I think I'll do what I've been suggested first, and write some code to just write every sort of metadata we can think of to a text file. Expect during the following days.
