p.s. If anyone sees a post without the "MOVED" tag on it, and you think it could belong in a better forum, let me know. There's some that quite don't fit in any particular category yet. Like those for some add-on files, or suggestions like the one for making more benchmark tests of SD cards. Things like that.

So I've just been leaving some of them in General Chat, until someone says of a better place.

Oooops, small SNAFU. I was trying to divide up one LONG thread covering many subjects on Fingalo's build and accidentally split apart a post that belongs to some others. You can find the minor mixup in this forum http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/board,22.0.html

May not be important as all the questions seemed to have been answered and shelved. It just looks "messy" now. :-)

New Layout Announcement?

Could we maybe have a little "New Board Organization!" announcement with a little note that they should ignore the dust while it settles, maybe in the main banner this week?

Thanks, acseven!

And the title of the second forum is still incorrect.

It's like that on purpose, seemed better to me. Do you really think it should be changed?

Never can tell from a Cyrillic point of view. :D

I recall in latin class where we were shown the folly of translating any olde texts. Taking simple movie titles, then translating into latin and back again to english. Something like "Gone with the Wind" would end up being something like "Disappeared into the vacuum" after just one translation and back. :D

I would add these subforums:

CHDK
+About the firmware addon
(where one can also write about its history, credits, contributions etc)

Hardware Talk

General Canon Talk
Photography Talk
(especially for those of us that don't have dpreview accounts or want to talk about these in relation with CHDK)

Offtopic talk

CHDK
+About the firmware addon
(where one can also write about its history, credits, contributions etc)
This info can be easily fit into single topic, IMHO.

Hardware Talk
We have nothing to talk here. The only linuxGuy tried to open discussions regarding this, but suddenly disappeared.

General Canon Talk
Photography Talk
(especially for those of us that don't have dpreview accounts or want to talk about these in relation with CHDK)
There are so many forums to discuss. But, if we had too many such topics in GeneralChat, the creation of these sub-forums would be reasonable.

Offtopic talk
Can be created as child-board of GeneralChat. But do not open many topics in this forum.

Hi,

I have to agree with GrAnd. This forum will not be, at least from my pov, for general chatting. That doesn't mean we can't have an offtopic section, but not for now.

This is good mainly for two reasons: 1. If we all talk about the same thing, there will be little annoyances or bad tempered discussions (sub sequentially less banning) and 2. because I am paying for my host, and though this forum does not disturb significantly my hosting costs, I do not want to ask for money to have it up and running.

Cheers
