a460 ir modification for new project

Hi all,

I'm starting a new project.  I need to remove the ir block filter in the a460 and replace it with an ir pass filter.  Does anybody know how to open a460?

Question about chdk (after reading the tutorials), is it possible to shoot RAW using the usb RC? Also, is it possible to edit an image using scripts (like pixel modification, averaging, multiplication etc.)

Hej,
In this post, there are links to disassemble-how-tos for many powershot A, that should help you (also remove IR filter for A540).

thanks for the reply. I've seen that post, but it doesn't have an a460.

Hej,
Shouldn't be that different from A430/A530/A550/A560.

Yes it should be and is indeed on a710. As the usb-remote-script does nothing else than pressing the shutter in software.

Not now.
There is raw averaging, but I don't know if this can be done from a script as this has to be done in file browser usually.
Pixel modification and other manipulation has to be done in C first I think.  (Asm should be also possible :D)

thanks for the reply. anyways, i have already bought an A560 (instead of a460, because they say it's already phased out) and i'm now ready to modify the filters.  i wish i could document it so i can post it here (i need another camera?  :o).
