I was wondering if it is possible to enter the alt. menu through a script.  The reason I am asking is because I wanted to try and change some of the settings and run a few tests but these experiments will be done in a High altitude balloon so it can't be done manually.  I am using an A630 PowerShot, with Albest.  I tried looking through the source code for a basic command for the direct print button but was unable to find it.  I appreciate the help.

I may be wrong but I don't think that's possible, but whatever you are trying to change from the menus is probably possible to implement in the script instead...and if it isn't, it's possible to add new commands to do it if it seems like something that should be changeable from scripts.

Sorry, I'll be a little more specific.   I was trying to have it change the video quality and such.  For example increase quality, decrease quality, set for constant bit rate, etc. The reason for this is because I would like to get samples of the different qualities and settings to figure out what would be the best setting for future flights.  As far as I am aware these are only changeable from the alt. menu.  I am new to this firmware, and could very well be mistaken.  Again thanks for your time.

it can be made accessible from script. it is not implemented as of now, but it can be done, fairly easy even.

Hmm... now this gives me an idea:

We could have script commands to read and write any value in CHDK config. Much like get_prop/set_prop but for the raw chdk.cfg values. I don't mean that these commands should be a preferred way for any task (just like get_prop/set_prop aren't), but they would provide a way to do things like this video quality experimentation before they are implemented properly (some things may even be better left unimplemented, but it may still be good to have access to them for testing).
