Hi,

I have a Canon Ixus 800 IS = Canon SD700 IS and want to have the CHDK menu.
VER.REQ = 1.01b

But It doesn't work at the moment yet. I read the FAQ.
Q: Where do you put the files?

You have to download 4 files:
- blinker (blue LED)
--> Where do you put the files you download? In which directory?

- blinker (AF beam)
--> Where do you put the files? In which directory?
Most of the files are the same of the blue LED, so when you put this in the same directory you will overwrite the files of the blue LED.

- firmware 1.01B
--> Where do you put the file you download? In which directory?

Above is not mentioned in the help according to me.

- SD700 1.01b port: in Root directory:
DISKBOOT.BIN (all in uppercase? --> some lines in the help say yes, other say also in lowercase?)
PS.FIR (all in uppercase? --> some lines in the help say yes, other say also in lowercase?)

Could you help me?

Or could you make the graphical? with screenshots?

Regards,

Hello & welcome waterman,

don't know which FAQ you mean, try this: CHDK_in_Brief, then read CHDK_for_Dummies, download the latest Canon Digital IXUS700 1.01b Autobuild (beta) Version from Autobuild Downloads, unpack the 2 files to your cards root folder, start your cam in playback mode, go into the canon menu & select "Firmware Update"...

...all the things with "dump", "blinker"... are only for programmers, you don't need this; use the files with their original names, lowercase is ok, but it doesn't matter at all...

Have fun with CHDK !

Hi,

Thank you very much. Is it that easy?

Now it works. I get now the Firmware Update... option in the Menu in playback mode.
and then I get the CHDK menu.

Super. Thanks.

This was what I mentioned and tried:
From CHDK - CHDK Wiki
I selected
SD700IS - CHDK Wiki

And then I did what I described what was mentioned there.

And the other uppercape / lowercase:
From: FAQ - CHDK Wiki

Q and A. How do I get CHDK onto my camera's SD memory card?
There is otherwise described then your option.

So thank you very much.

One other question - or perhaps I should start this with a new question:
On the display of the Canon Ixus 800 IS (=SD 700 IS) when in record mode:
and disp + enter
- you only see a white rectangle in the middle and
- you see a white hand below (=IS):

Could you both turn off? (according to Canon you can't)
So you get a screen without anything on it.

When you put IS (=Image Stabilisation) always on, you know that.
You don't have to see this.

The same when you turn AiAF off. It is always in the middle.
So you don't have to see this.

Is that possible with CHDK for the Canon Ixus 800 IS?

N.B. due to a week away I will react after this week when you reply.

Regards,

Yes, Canon icons are anoying, unfortunately is not possible to remove them.

CHDK does not modiffy the original firmware, so we can't play with Canon icons.

But who knows, I hope some day I eat my words.
