I'm unable to determine my IXUS 75 firmware! The problem is:

According to wikia:
switch on the camera in playback mode and wait for the main screen (don't switch on in rec mode and change to playback later)

but according o the manual, this is not possible.
"Pressing the power button sets the
camera to the shooting mode and pressing the    button set it to the
playback mode.

I bought a card reader, created a ver.req and vers.req file in the card's home directory, but...

Ideas anybody?

Many moons ago someone noticed that if the camera was in rec. mode (without CHDK installed) you could press the play button TWICE and then install CHDK. The double press technique may work for you.
