Here is my feedback on the alpha version so far (running on 1.01A):

1) RAW files - Along with a few other people I have found that these get written to the memory card (along with a JPG), but the green blinking busy light stays on after taking a RAW shot.  The camera doesn't actually "crash" until you try and switch modes or turn it off.  It then needs a battery drop to sort it out.
This bug makes the filesystem "corrupt". Not serious but ...

chr, do you mind to explain what causes the RAW bug? Shooting RAW is somewhat important for me, and I am sure I'm not the only one. Maybe there is something I can do to help?

Really appreciate all your effort.

With chdk, I was able to exercise manual focus. But when I try to take a picture, it again re-adjust focus automatically, is not it possible to override the automatic focus and just use manual focus ? any thoughts ?

Hi!

Here is another release:

* latest chdk v. 0.7.2 (svn rev. 551: / (log) - chdk - Trac)
* fixes raw saving *)
* looks like that the 101a version also works for 101b firmware. I got a 100c, so please report (and update wiki)!

General usage information should be here SD1100IS - CHDK Wiki . If you have been a newbie and got it to work, please add the missing information to the wiki!

The attached .tgz file is for end users and contains all files that goes to SD card.
The .bz2 file is for hackers.

As usual: I don't take any warranties. Use at your own risk!

ps:
*) if u got this bug with the last release, please reformat the SD card or run a filesystem check!

@joei: which fw version?

I need to know, because I started lobbying to put this port into trunk so there will be automated builds in future.

Hi chr, thx very much!

Shooting in raw-modus works, but the cam crashes after switching to play-modus and try to zoom the pic! Switching the cam off and on helps, until next raw-shoot. FW101a.

I can't confirm this bug. Please do a filesystem check of that SD card ... or better, reformat it. The raw bug damaged the filesystem!!

Just installed it on my 1.01a SD1100 and no problems so far.   :) Using a 8GB SDHC card I formatted to 4GB FAT16 using newfs_msdos in Terminal on my MacBook and then hex edited using 0xED to make it bootable.  Thanks so much.  Just curious how progress was coming on using cards >4GB to get the full capacity of the cards.  Thanks again.
