just a quick update here:

tried to open the pictures I took (the crw ones) with adobe dng converter and even that doesn't work properly.

The chdk build I use is : ixus80_sd1100-101a-0.8.4-595-full.zip from the autobuild server.
The firmware version of my sd1100is is : 1.01a
Computer in use is a mac with up to date os x 10.5.5 and iphoto to transfer pics.

Hope this helps.

This thread is about porting CHDK to the sd1100, and specific issues related to that camera. It's not the right place for general usage questions.

The DNG feature is new and experimental. If you want to use it, you need to read the relevant thread: Save RAW files in DNG format instead of RAW

Raw develop is covered in the documentation CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - CHDK Wiki
Your problem appears to be due to not understanding how the feature works. You select a picture, and then shoot to create a jpeg from the selected picture.

chdk CRW/RAW format issues are described here in RAW Shooting and Processing particularly the sticky threads CHDK & RAW - a never ending story (Beginners read here please) and Difference between Canon CRW and CHDK CRW?
Don't forget what the H stands for.

One more data point...
Just bought an SD1100 yesterday.  Put CHDK on it: no problem.
Today, tried "ultimate intervalometer" script; appeared to do nothing, then gave a very brief message before turning off.  The message looked like it might be "watchdog timeout" but I'm not sure.

Next, tried "intervalometer" script found on the net: Bingo! Started snapping photos.  I set the interval to 2 seconds but it looked more like 4 seconds so maybe that is as fast as it can go.  I'll do more testing.

Mainly, just wanted to say thanks to all developers for a super cool tool.  Next up: fasten it to my glider and do some aerial photography!

Seeing the last forum post complaints, i have to say, that for me at least, all these CHDKs working without any problem. I tried the 355c, r535 (0.6.2) and now r551 (0.7.2) on a 1.01a and they are operating as expected. I do not understand, what problem could cause the hang for others?

As I wrote, the older Version 0.7.2 is working for me too. The major problems start with 0.8.0 from the autobuild.

I have to admit, that i did not tried just a few CHDK options (eg. not tested the RAW writing), but what i tried, all worked. Anytime i tried to enter to CHDK menu, it did as expected, never hanged by pressing the blue 'Direct Print' button.

You don't even have to press the blue 'Direct Print' button. Camera freezes during startup. No user intervention is needed here. (0.8.0/0.8.1)

The 0.7.2 version also is quite buggy and unstable, imho. If you switch to play mode, the camera crashes, same on a few other functions. Not really usable yet.

Now, i'll try the new r586 (0.8.1) version next week on my 2GB SD-Card and going to report back either it works or not.

I'm interested in your results. Please post it together with your firmware ID.

Best regards,
-vh

Well, my enthusiasm was a bit early...

This week i tried to install 'ixus80_sd1100-101a-0.8.7-616-full.zip' from the trunk with CardTricks 1.43 on a 2GB Kingston Elite Pro 50x SD-Card (not SDHC) an the result is: 'CARD IS LOCKED' message. :(
I was shocked. I made the formatting/installing process ahgain - with the same result. As a reverse-checking, i tried my 32MB small SD-Card with the same file/build, and it worked perfectly! Actually, with the 32MB card, every build worked that i tried so far (or at least: started properly, menus worked etc..). Strange...

Next week i'll try to put various builds to the 2GB card (olders and newer ones) to find out, if ANY of those runs at all.

By the way, i have FW 1.01A and always download/install the full build from the trunk.

Check if the card is formatted as FAT32. If so, the autoboot method wont work. Reformat it as fat16 on your PC.

You dont need to do that. The small build only contains the diskboot.bin, the full build all kinds of stuff like languages and example scripts. Once you have them, you only need to download the diskboot.bin when updating your chdk..

It's true, that the 2GB card was originally FAT32, but i reformatted with CardTricks 1.43 'Format as FAT' option. I thought, that it will format the card as FAT16. If not, then i should use the Windows built-in format option i guess...

Agree, but i suppose, that sometimes some files in the folders also change, eg. translations will be updated, new useful scripts (LUA, uBasic) appear etc. That's why i prefer the complete version over the small one. Anyhow, for testing, replacing only the diskboot.bin should be enough.

don't think so:

SD1100/ixus 80 doesn't have "#define CAM_MULTIPART = 1" in trunk 627 source,
and no multi partition support means no cards > 4 Gb (unless you force-format them to 4 Gb @ FAT16)

thanks for the reply--is that all the changes needed to allow support multi partitions?
