AllBest includes the motion detection feature fully. It just isn't on a menu, and instead it's available as a command to be used in scripts, because that's a much powerful way of exporting it.

See here for measuring the motion reaction speed.

Hi MX3,
im new here, rather im new to CHDK... yesterday i somehow managed to load CHDK (thanks to all the wonderful guys out there investing so much of their time on this... really can t thank them enough).. unfortunately today i spent the whole day searching for script for MOTION DETECTION for my SX1....
1. WHERE DO I FIND THESE SCRIPTS (SXI)
2. HOW DO I LOAD THESE SCRIPTS (I know nothing about writing script stuff)
3. is there a step by step kind of thing for this?
thanks in advance

thanks a lot fudgrey ::)
that really gave me focus lock!
downloaded the MDFB-080914.zip, unzipped it, loaded the two bas files, but :-[
1. MDFB-080914.bas showed error on running script
2. MDFB-080914-VideoButtonModels.bas DID NOT show error. it is running for sure (its clicking snaps)...problem is as soon as i start the script it starts clicking and doesnt stop...unless i stop the script... WHAT SETTINGS AM I SUPPOSED TO CHANGE... i would be a grateful soul if u could direct me on this...(my cam is SX1)
ZILLION THANKS IN ADVANCE
PS : im hooked to this stuff and till i find answer im kinda going low on nourishments

How about a motion detector that works by the change in distance of focus?
That way you could set it to the range you like.
This way it could also work with my 400d.
I bet you could write it in just a few lines of code.

These cameras need to actually move the lens to find focus, which means that such a detector will stress the camera's mechanical parts quite a bit. That said, once upon a time I wrote a script that pretty much does this, see:

If you set it just to look every few seconds it wouldn't be any more ware than an automatic intervalometer.
But I dont think I have heard of a lens with a ultrasonic motor wearing out.
Also I bet the shutter gets most of its wear from its environment as opposed to its use.
My counter is 26,000+ but I am more worried about taking it in and out of the cold or dropping it.

So would the functions in that script work when compiled into in the autoexec.bin that we are using with our 400d models?
