I had it twice when I was changing the batteries that at camera on the date and time window popped in and was set to 0

Is this a known error, or did I discover something new?

Well you wrote that you didnt use your cam for a long time. Its very likely that the small internal battery is either empty or broken.

Well,in the s3is it is in the battery compartment, easily replaceble,is even mentioned in the readme. If it is not meant to be userreplaceble in the s2...well search the net for a disassembly guide.

found the battery after downloading an S3 manual and it is at the same place on a S2. The battery is a 3V type and mine measured 3.16V, so it should be still ok.

I wiped the battery and reinstalled it, so far no problem.
