Where are the inexpensive powershot's disappearing to?

Hi,

I have been looking at prices and availability for the A720is and A570is.  The 720 is getting harder to find and prices are way up.  Ditto for the 570, but it still can be found for a reasonable amount.

Could it be that  people who know about CHDK are snapping up all these cameras?

a580 and a470 are really cheap :)
a590 is around 150$, still acceptable price
i think peolpe buy them without knowing about CHDK, just because most of the peoples are satisfied with the quality of powershots

You are right, they are still quite cheap in comparison to a A570 IS for example. But the A580 or A470 are still not ported, aren't they ?

I thought I could get a 570 for $120.  Turned out to not be a valid offer.

Today (prices are changing hourly.  I think it is because of back to school)
Amazon.com  A570is:$249  A590is:$140.
The A590is is a better spec camera in every respect except video.  Why this huge difference in price? 

CHDK!  The 590 is not yet ported.

The 590 seems close to being ported.  Maybe its time to buy before the price goes way up.

Keep in mind that Amazon has usually double the price, but if you buy it from some of their affiliates you can get it for much cheaper.

Wouldn't it be cool if CHDK allowed upping the fps on the 590, then it's better in every respect :)
I can't get a good idea on how development is coming along though. we just dumped firmware so far i think..

I don't have it, but would the old A530 be a good candidate for entry-level CHDK?
