Wine!? For just one (relatively) simple task?
When all I need is a simple, well coded, portable tool that runs on the current, common, x86_64 platform under Linux?
No disrespect but this is not really going in the right direction.
If I were a programmer I'd dive into th code of DNG4PS-2...

dng4ps2 is free software and author doesn't guaranty it works correctly or even works at all. Sources of dng4ps2 are in public acccess. If other programmers want to port it to their ptatforms, they do it: spebbe - DNG4PS-2 Mac OS X build and DNG4PS2 - BitstreetWiki
I'm not specialist in linux and not in 64-bit platforms. Sorry...

Well meant tip:
But building DNG4PS-2 is not very convenient since it doesn't use standard GNU tools/Makefiles but project files for the Code::Blocks IDE for Windows and Linux only

Using the Makefile from spebbe - DNG4PS-2 Mac OS X build for OSX gets me a nice start...

I don't know if there's a problem running it under wine on 64-bit Linux, I hope not).

Nope, works fine on x86_64 on vanilla 2.6.26.2 from last week, using wine-1.0-1 utilizing no native Windows libraries. Course the aforementioned problem Denis pointed out re: EXIF data still exists. (use exiftool to copy it from your jpgs to your dngs, eg: exiftool -TagsFromFile Source.JPG Destination.DNG)
