Wave/Mp3 Recorder and Player (DIGICIII-Digic II)?

hi,
i just thought about the audio-output of my A710is and why it isn't possible to listen to mp3s.
(I know that it's only mono, but that's equal for me as I'm not a HI-FI_Freak. With special headphones you can hear it at both ears.)
There is another problem, too: If you attatch a cable to the audio-port of the camera the display is turned off.
But again that's not too bad for me, as I normally create playlists and listen through them comletely.

Thanks for any comments.
And if you find any mistakes, keep them, my mother tongue isn't English. However I hope, that it is read- / understandable. :D

Although your idea sounds interesting from a "challenge" point of view, having an mp3player in the camera would lead to:

1Gb of mp3 files in memory card.
That means: 1Gb less worth of pictures.
IMHO that is not helping with the overall photographic experience.

Regarding your actual question, I really can't answer. But I think programming a C code mp3 player, without an operative system to manage peripherals sounds very difficult.

I think we should fix one of the mp3 player threads in the feature requests section, seems
that almost every newbe thinks somehow about that.
(Me too, and barney always gives the same answers...)

Although I personally have no use for MP3 on my cam, I'll share what I recently found on the net,
in case anyone is desperate enough to try ...

Shine (c source code for ARM mp3 encoder for RiscOS):
