IXUS950/Powershot SD850 IS issue.

I'm quite new to using CHDK, after taking a bit of time to explore the wiki and successfully install it onto my memory card, I fired it up on my camera. I mainly installed it for the bracketing function and the extensive time lapse abilities that are lacking in these point and shoot cameras Canon makes.

I played with the TV/ISO bracketing setting under the section Extra Photo Operations > Bracketing in Continuous Mode.

My problem though is actually taking the picture. Clicking on the shutter button starts the script and the display shows:

***STARTED***
This is a default script.
Scripts run when shutter is pressed in ALT mode.
Press shutter to exit.
***FINISHED***

And if I press it after that it restarts that message, if midway it shows me ***INTERRUPTED***

So explain to me how can I actually take pictures, and bracketed pictures too.

Thanks!

PS: Don't laugh too hard. I know I'm probably doing something obviously wrong.

Hello & welcome Neotron !

-> leave the <Alt> mode by pressing the PRINT button !

In <Alt> mode you can start/stop scripts with the shutter, what you see is a build-in default script, a dummy.

With PRINT you enter the <Alt> mode (shown on the console on your LCD), then you can enter the CHDK menu with MENU, start or stop scripts with the shutter button and so on, after setting up you leave the <Alt> mode with PRINT again...

Ok, I see what you mean. So I can only take pictures in the regular mode. But how will I be able to use features such as bracketing?

It may help you to:-
Look/ download/print the instruction manual (a pdf file)
google Wiki Chdk usage  lots of information on how to use the new features.
search for SCRIPT and follow instructions (about half way down the page)
In brief you have failed to run the script you intended because you had not loaded it. better luck with your next try

Enter <Alt> mode with PRINT, enter CHDK menu with MENU, set up wat you want...

-> set "TV bracketing value" to [2 Ev], "Brackting type" to [+/-], exit Alt mode, use the custom timer (set up to 1s delay, 3 shots)

Hi all,

I have tried this and my canon SX110 IS takes on 1 shot in this mode. WHy is it not taking 3 shots when I have set it to 3 in custom mode?

Did you really switch the camera to custom timer mode ?

yes I did. I set it to 3, 4 or 5 too and I can see that for the first shot it reduces the exposure. But its not firing the next shot and the lcd goes blank.

-> Make sure that "Add RAW suffix" is disabled.
-> Pls. post all your settings in the "Bracketing in continuous mode" menu

*EDIT: pls. do not double post; continue on your other thread here: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,5065.msg49159/topicseen.html#msg49159
