Adding Multipartition Support for Ixus70 (SD-1000)

Could someone please incorporate multipartition support for the ixus70 into one of the main builds?  I've tried most builds I could get my hands on, but the only one that works with my 8GB SanDisk and SD-1000 is Microfunguy's SDM build.  That's all well and good, as it's an excellent build, but I don't have multiple cameras to take advantage of it.

Currently I'm enjoying the collaborative CHDK build but it's showing my multiple partitions no love.  If someone could incorporate the code for one of the SD-1000 builds I would be forever grateful!

TIA, and thanks to Microfunguy for his help on this matter as well!

Hmmm, did I post this in the wrong place, should I post this someplace else?

If it's a matter of testing beta versions on my Ixus 70, just say the word I'd be more than happy to do whatever's needed.

okay, i gather from the fact that you own an ixus70 and you coded the patch that you already tested this on your camera?

Okay try to explain how it works for me.
1. Take a fresh formated sdcard and format it in the camera
2. put Diskboot.bin und ps.fir on the card
3. start camera in playback mode and select firm update
4. in debug menu select  create card with two partition - confirm yes
5. in misc select swap partition
6. shutdown camera
7. now we see to partition on the card one fat16 with 2mb and one fat32 with the rest of the card
8. the big one contains now the dcim folder
9. start camera in playback mode and select firm update
10. in misc select swap partition
11. shutdown camera and set write protection of the car to on
12. with cardtricks format 2mb partition new and make it bootable put diskboot.bin on it
13. start camera and voila you can use your fat32 partition to store your photos and boot from the fat16 partition

to have access to your photos you have to swap partition again,
start your camera in playback select firm update and then swap partition again for auto boot

if this is the right way it should work, than i can confirm it works for my ixus70 ver 102a
maybe after other ixus70 users have tested this it can be added to the trunk

attached diskboot.bin and ps.fir for ver 100c and 101b

Bravo quietschi !

I will gladly test it, but have no more time today - tomorrow  :(

also: that's a very good description of in cam multipartition maintenance !
good enough for the wiki, i'd say ...
edit: hmm...maybe even for adding to CT  OMG too much to do !

sorry, in haste ...

11. shutdown camera and set write protection of the car to on
12. with cardtricks format 2mb partition new and make it bootable put diskboot.bin on it
13. start camera and voila you can use your fat32 partition to store your photos and boot from the fat16 partition
better this way
11. shutdown camera
12. with cardtricks format 2mb partition new and make it bootable put diskboot.bin on it
13. set write protection of the car to on
14. start camera and voila you can use your fat32 partition to store your photos and boot from the fat16 partition

I'm not sure why i have to format the fat16 partition in step 12 again
the diskboot.bin file before formating is corrupt
maybe this is a bug and someone knows how to change this

@wim
your cardtrick is one of the best tools for card working, without this in winxp you get problems formating the card correct

thanks quietschi

ok, if whims testing succeeds, i can add it to the svn.
however, please try creating an actual diff/patch file using svn.
