Hi everyone,

I have a Canon G7 and I want to upgrade the firmware but I can't! When I push the firmware bottom and after the ok my camera does nothing! Only just the black screen and nothing else, it has no reaction for any bottom ( i waited max. 20 min). If I want to do with that I need to take off the battery and push it back again.

I tried to the manual way, the automatic (Card Tricks method). I all ready tried the next versions: 1.00e, 1.00g, 1.00i, 1.00j. NOTHING!

Can enyone help to me?

Hello & welcome Morpheus !

It looks like you're not using the proper CHDK version, what's the (real) firmware version of your camera ?

After when I tried many ways I put is back everything.

I tried "G7 fw v1.00j SDM (Stereo Data Maker) version 1.40" and "G7 fw v1.00j binaries; pre14, #342 (*verified OK) ". The camera works well but no menu option appear offering me to update the firmware.

I tried with an Verbatim SDHC 4gig in FAT 32 and a Sandisk Extreme III 1.0gig in FAT16, using a real card reader in a PC.

These versions are very old, try newer ones: Downloads#Allbest_Build or the Juciphox build with advanced features; if you want to use the SDM (Stereo Data Maker), you'll find the latest version on the SDM Homepage (v1.73 atm).

Ah! thanks for the latest version. I first went to the G7 Section and did not saw that each build had versions for all cameras.

For futur users that have a similar problem like I did: Your lens must be retracted to see the Firmware option in the menu.
