Hi,

I've got a bit of a problem to do with my cameras LCD screen being stuck permanently dim.

i was successfully using the chdk canon hack before 400plus came out then I downloaded and booted the 400plus autoexec.bin file (2011-06-15). after changing the Scripts >LCD dim setting to YES i have not been able to set my screen back to normal brightness.

the screen remains dim even when loading normal firmware with the CF card removed.

I have also tried to replace the camera with stock firmware (1.1.1) with no luck, although during the firmware update process the screen did revert back to full brightness, only to return back to dim once the update was complete

Any help or advice would be great

When a script is interrupted by turning the camera off, the hack does not revert "auto power-off" and "LCD dim" options to their normal state; this is a known bug (please see http://code.google.com/p/400plus/issues/detail?id=130). The temporary solution is, however, much simpler that anything you tried: just navigate Canon menus and restore both options to their normal values.

Ahh I see now, I must powered off the camera stupidly half way through the script.

Thanks for the solution I had a bit of a Doh moment there... I was also sure I looked back through the standard canon menus for LCD brightness, but at the time I was probably panicking about the fact I thought I had killed my LCD back-light.
