NEW POWERSHOTS For Late 2008!

Some marketing training materials:
Canon Camera Products Training Center - information on PowerShot, EOS, Rebel, etc.

Basically, we've got:

SX110 IS - rehash of SX100 IS, higher MP sensor

A1000 IS- Similar to A5xx line, 10mp 1/2.5 sensor. Wonder how noise will be... Other than the slightly restyled, more plasticky-looking case, and a few software gimmicks like motion detect ISO change and ISO3200 (what?), seems like the same thing we currently have on the market.

A2000 IS - New model, 3" display (likely still low resolution), 10mp sensor, NO MORE VIEWFINDER, otherwise the replacement for the A7xx line. The loss of a viewfinder is disappointing - it really helps in bright light situations.

For both the A1000 IS and A2000 IS, it appears the accessory lens mount is gone. I figured it'd go at some point. I'm glad I got a hold of another A720 IS when I did...

e1 - similar to A1000 IS? Just a different look? Maybe less manual controls (the A1000 IS doesn't appear to have many, anyway)?

Your thoughts?

i saw too on Canon Rumors
that site is really belonging to canon???

edit: that site belongs to Creative Channel Services, LLC...
so i think it's fake (but it looks great) or the website template is for sale for canon but i don't think if they'll buy it :)

The buzz in other photography circles is that the new G series "enthusiast" camera might use a CMOS sensor over a cheapo CCD. Photokina is under a month away, you know they're trying to leak bits of info, cause a stir of excitement, etc. It motivates people to rush out and buy the newest and best. It's marketing. It's 100% calculated manipulation, it's disgusting, and it works very, very well. (On a side note, I'm one of the ones helping fuel that G10 CMOS rumor. Heh.)

There's also rumors on video forums of a new ZR Series HDV (that's HD miniDV) pocket-sized, ungodly huge buffer, and around $1k usd.

Eh, we'll know in a month.

Hej,
SX110 IS looks interesting... only 9 Mpixels and 1/2.3 sensor, so bigger than SX100 IS.
Others look ugly and have boring specs, especially that aperture of A2000, hope it's a mistake.
I really can't see A720 replaced by THAT. :(((

Nothing interesting for me. Expected something with 1/1.7" sensor, like A660IS or so ...

Anyway, it seems that 26.08 Canon 50D will be announced and maybe some compacts

And 27.08 - Nikon D90 - first DSLR with (HD) video mode (!)

they are no rumors, these really are the next Canon camera line up.

full specs available. at first glimpse I can see that they don't have HD video, although the Panasonic TZ5 does, and that's disappointing...

I'm really not impressed by these cams... I was hoping for more...

Exactly. I'm not impressed either. The A2000 seems worse than the A720IS I have been fighting over getting for the last three months, and the others basically look like higher MP, more space-wasting, standard Canon fare.

The 50D also seems kind of boring. Having lots of AF options in Live View will be nice, although I wish they'd just backport it to the 40D. (Of course, Canon won't.) I rarely use Live View on my camera though. 15MP doesn't inspire low noise, though who knows. Nothing else really jumps out as really special... ISO12800? Let's see how usable it is...

What I am really looking forward to is the 5D replacement. I am not, however, looking forward to the asking price that I am sure will be near $3k. :(

the SX110 is maybe an upgrade but the button layout is a little bit strange...
but the other ones are dedicated to consumer range, they have no manual settings... future targets for CHDK  ;)
there is on dpreview too...
A1000 and A2000 follows a650is colours and design elements, they look pretty nice :D
E1 looks like... erm... funny and awfull... it's really dedicated to blondes :P

Does this mean there is no successor to the S5 IS coming in the near future? Or will that be definitive first after Photokina, what do you think?

Yeah there has to be more models at photokina, G10 and S51 IS, I hope another powershot A too, or the powershots A are DEAD.
Seems there is a G10 too and SX1 IS 28-560mm. But not much about them yet. Maybe just rumors again.
