A710IS: Can't zoom!

I've searched all over and can't seem to find a solution to this. I'm using an A710IS with either Grant's or Allbest build for the camera. With no script or any script I've tried, I can't use the zoom buttons in any shooting mode while the CHDK is 'active'. Am I doing something wrong? Ideally I'd like to have the card set to bootable and auto start an intervalometer script when I turn on the camera (I'm using a waterproof housing which does not allow access to the ALT button while it's in the housing). But I'd still like to use the zoom before starting the intervalometer. I'm not able to do this without first removing the camera from the housing (not usually a good idea where I use it, on or in the water!), turning off the ALT mode, zooming to the desired level, turning ALT mode back on, and replacing the camera in the housing.

Is there any way I can activate the zoom feature from the CHDK menu somewhere?

Thanks!
Mark

yes, zoom, doesn't work during <Alt> mode, it's locked/used for other things
just an ideea:
there is somewhere in the forum a zoom and focus in video script, maybe you could use that for zooming in-out, or add it to intervalvometer script

Yep, when in script mode, CHDK doesn't let the camera do it's normal daily duties. But you can program the script to listen for zoom button/lever presses and then make it actuate zoom. Or add a new script parameter for zoom and make the script zoom in to that position before it starts shooting.

See http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/TutorialScratchpad#click.2Fpress.2Frelease_.22zoom_in.22.2C_.22zoom_out.22 and find set_zoom in http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/TutorialScratchpad. The script dzemx mentioned may be a fine example for you on how to use these commands.
