Hi, got a A710IS, and enabled RAW mode in chdk (and get the 'RAW' icon on the screen to confirm RAW mode). However I dont seem to get any raw files. All the images I shot have .jpg extention, and can be previewed in windows explorer. I have tried running them thru DNG4PS, but it doesnt recognise them as raw files.

I was expecting them to be saved as .crw files, but have no such files on the memory card. I even tried renaming them to .crw but still wont recognise them.

Anyone experienced this before, is it a bug, or simple user error?

I presume that as they have .jpg extensaion and can be viewed in windows explorer these files are not raw? If so its very upsetting as they are underwater pics from a recent holiday to the great barrier reef, so cant take them again and was planning on setting white balance afterwards, as it is they dont look good in their current state.  :(

so you are saying you planned an expensive trip, got all the gear, read up all about chdk, installed chdk - but you did NOT take test shots?

my guess: you are not using a cardreader. the raw files are not transmitted to pc via usb cable. try using cardreader, and look especially in the dcim100 folder.

DOH! How stupid do I feel?! Yes it was that I was getting the images by browsing the card via the camera as a USB device, rather than using a card reader. I feel very stupid but soooo happy I got the images :D

I'll blame not figuring that out for myself on the jetlag (which is why I am now wide awake at 2am  :blink: ),

Yes I know it was really stupid not to fully test it all b4 I went but the first new camera was broken and replacment didnt arrive till day before, then, crisis at work meant I was stilll installing chdk as being called at from SWMBO downstairs saying we need to leave, was glad just to get it installed and to have 'raw' come up on the screen as I ran out the door.

If anyone wants me I will be the embaressed one sitting in the corner all night, playing with my new pics   ;)

Canons CameraWindows transfers both JPGs and the CRWs :)

darn, i knew someone would be saying this :D
i could have told him, but teling him to use the cardreader was the simpler and faster solution (probably didnt install the canon software). most people dont install it coz they think it is [admin: avoid swearing please] - though it isnt :D
