Hi!

I would like to know if there is a means to load manually the CHDK on A720IS to benefit at the request of the hack?

For example: I start the cmaera, I take photos with the original Canon's firmware, then I want to take a photo in RAW then at this moment I choose to load CHDK. Is it possible ?

No, A720 is a DryOS-based camera, on this type of cameras the update-firmware - method does not work because there's no way found to create the needed fi2 file for this until now.
The only way to start such cameras is the Autoboot - method (starting from a locked, bootable SD card).

But you can easily switch CHDK on / off by locking / unlocking the SD card:
  Card locked -> CHDK starts on power on
  Card unlocked -> camera starts "normal", without CHDK
But you have to power off your camera for this...

If you have CHDK loaded, with RAW and other options turned off, you are taking pictures with Canon's original firmware. Simply use the CHDK menu to turn RAW on when you want it.

Ok, thanks a lot for your interestings answers. It is not a problem to power off the camera. So I can do what I want, CHDK or not.

Pauls9->It's not only for RAW (RAW shoot was only an exemple), but for all the CHDK. It is a way to make camera easier to use when I don't need CHDK.
