Is there a way to generate thumbnail prints of all the photos on the card,
and send it direct to a printer, using scripting?

Hello & welcome jamesgreaves !

Not in CHDK, but if your camera supports PictBridge you can do it with the cameras build-in print feature (Canon DPOF), you could write a script that emulates the key strokes to automate this...
