Hiya - got the Canon SD 870 IS and running CHDK - all great. Really enjoying HDR again (left my DSLR at home).

Quick question - I need help to automate a process I already understand. I'm shooting HDR by setting my camera to manual, Continuous, then going into the CHDK menu, Selecting Extra photo operations, setting my desired bracketing (2, + VE), and then shooting, no problem.

Its just a pain to do all this each time I power up my camera. I'm assuming I can assigne a "macro"/script to do most of this - i.e. the paragraph above, without having to go into the menu and do all the scrolling etc each time I want to shoot HDR?

Hello & welcome Dodgey99 !

You can disable "Clear Bracket values on Start", then the settings within this menu will be stored and loaded again on power on, so everytime you switch to the continuous/timer/custom timer mode you'll have the settings again (and the BRACKET hint is shown on the display to remind you...)

 

In the Juciphox build there's also an option Disable_Overrides and a short cut to quickly enable / disable CHDK overrides...

You can also use a script with "Script Autostart" in the Script - menu...

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the solution! - That will do the job perfectly! :-)  - not like I shoot in continuous manual for any other reason.

There's also a custom menu you can set up so you don't have to go digging trough menus for things you use frequently. You can configure chdk so the custom menu comes up as soon as you hit the Alt button.

Mine is set up so I can jump directly to the script or bracketing menus, toggle RAW shooting, or override shutter speed. These are the main things I use CHDK for. I rarely have to go to the main menu for anything
