Honestly, i think it is not feasible. u should adapt the sources of the codec, compile them and cope with a lot of memory restraint on the cam.

that link contained a firmware dump disassembly. If you want to use CHDK, you don't need this, but instead this link. Be aware that there are two threads about the a590is, and this one here is a bit outdated.

@Moderators: maybe you could just close this thread?
