SD700 Shutter override problem - Dark pictures

I am using Allbest's IXUS800/SD700 100b 087 611 FULL build. My problem is when I use shutter override without a flash, even at low ISO's (400-800), the photos are black or very dark unless it's very sunny out.  I understand the higher ISO's would be darker, but the lower ones shouldn't be.  When I use ISO 800 without the shutter override, the picture is fine. It's only when I use it, that there is a problem.  Would this be able to be fixed with a script or should I change some other setting to compensate for it?  Please help!!!

Wrong. Low iso = Low gain = Less brightness. (But also less noise).

I assume you're just setting the shutter speed on a too fast value.

I stand corrected. My problem is that whenever I use the shutter override the pictures are black without flash. It doesn't matter if i use it for a low ISO (100) or higher ISO (800), nothing extreme.  If I use 800 ISO without a shutter override the pictures are fine.  I want to know if there is a way to remedy this shutter override problem in CHDK.

Even as low as 1/800 or 1/400 the pictures are very dark to black without the flash, even in bright sunlight.

1/400 to 1/800 is really fast - why are you choosing such high shutter speeds? For sharp handheld pictures values at around 1/60 are enough.

Maybe you have activated the ND filter additionally, which would take away even more light?

Really, i think you are just setting the shutter speed to high..

Maybe you're right.  I was trying to take sports shots.  What would be a good shutter speed for basketball and football?
