S5IS - Which Build and problems

Hi All

I have searched but maybe i am doing something wrong. I can't find what i am looking for. Firstly, i downloaded 1.73-148-S5is-101b-57 for my camera. Formatted the SD card, made bootable and it starts up. Now the problem i am haviing is:

1. Blue block when i am using the camera for pics - says <browse> and something else. The block is near the lower left corner - how do i get rid of it?
2. apparently a speed of 65'/1 - 1/33,000 is attainable and up to F11

Am i even using a correct build?

All i really want is higher aperture and more speed possibilities. I am not too worried about histogram etc

Have i lost the plot? Do i need a different build?

Thanks in advance.

First of all, you're using a slightly ancient build. You can get a recent one here: Juciphox Download - build 0.5.1, revision #499

Thats probably the indicator for alt mode. I dont know for sure, as you're using an old build. In recent versions, that blue box should say <ALT> plus the name of the currently loaded script, when you leave alt mode it disappears.

And thats not possible even with recent builds, and it never gonna be possible. The aperture size and shutter speeds are physically limited, you cant go faster than the speed which are already available.

Thats for you to decide. The recent builds contain some fancy new features, but if all you want is raw saving + shutter/aperture overrides, you'll be fine with ancient versions.

shearder,

you're using the special CHDK version "SDM - Stereo data maker" 1.73, the homepage for this special build is here: SDM Homepage.
The "<browse>" thing ist the SDM help system...

This is a CHDK-based version especially for 3D photographing, you can use it also for "normal" purpose, but to start with CHDK it would be easier for you to use the "normal" CHDK from Hacki's link above...

In ALT mode use the left/right buttons to display one of over 40 OSD's.

In normal mode, you can hide/show the current OSD with half-press + right button.

In SDM 1.74 the FuncSet button in ALT mode will be used instead.

SDM has all the features (and more) required for practical photography.

LOL

Thanks Hacki. I will try the new build you propose. Perhaps i have lost it. I saw a page that gives higher speeds and aperture increased to F11. I will check out the build you gave. Thanks a ton!!
