I am actually also dwelling in between getting a G10 or a Panasonic Lumix-LX3...
well, battery life for timelapses is likely to get improved in newer chdk version (when we set the cam to sleep etc), also you could always build an external battery for the g9. so energy-wise i'd say get the g9.zoom? yes, 6x is a lil too less for my taste (well, i got 12x on the s3is ), but you could opt for a teleconverter, see here.
increased resolution might be nice, but is it wise considering ratio ccd size/pixel count?
but i would probably go for an sx100, sx10 or even sx1 (i guess they will have chdk support some time..., the latter two). cant beat the zoom on those beasts, plus hot shoe and lot of other nice features.
and new they can be had for less than the g9 costs used (i assume).
Isn't what this is supposed to do?http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?action=unread
