Hi there,

my first big timelapse project went public on YouTube.

I positioned my Ixus 40 upon my cars dashboard and photographed my whole journey from Hamburg, Germany to Genova, Italy where I entered a ferry to Sardinia. I programmed CHDK to take a photo every 2 seconds. Thanks to a hint of a CHDK I was able to switch off the display and could take about 3000 pictures every 2,5 hours with one battery. Than I amde a stop, downloaded the pictures to my notebook and went on. At the end of the day I went 1382 kilometers and took 16400 photos. After processing with Quicktime with 15fps I had a 19 minutes movie.

I split it in 2 parts and uploaded it to YouTube. You can watch the result at YouTube - With Mach4 from Hamburg to Genova (Part1) for Part1 and YouTube - With Mach4 from Hamburg to Genova (Part2) for Part 2.

The quality at YouTube is really, really poor. Too bad because the Quicktime result is surprisingly good. Does anybody have an idea where to upload for streaming with a better quality ?

Comments welcome.

Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Microfunguy, thanks for the advice. I uploaded it to Vimeo. The result is fantastic compared to YouTube.

You can see it here: .

@ blechdose, Great timelapse!!  I did one this summer on a 3 hour drive but haven't posted it yet. What resolution were your shots and could you please tell us how you put it all together in Quicktime? I used Photolapse to put mine together but would like some other options I've always been impressed with Quicktime's quality.

Thanks, and again nice job.
