Shouldn't it be somewhat easy to port it to the S5 now that it has been ported to the A720. I think read somewhere in dpreview that both firmwares are supposed to be very similar... is this true?

Even if they're not that similar i'm sure it can be ported to the S5, the fact that it works on a DryOs camera should give us enough hope.

I just keep on saying it, I guess, heh. I still don't have a lot of time, I've been away for holidays and didn't get anything done during that week and I've been concentrating on getting my development environment somewhat more structured. The S5 does differ from the A720 so there's still quite a bit I have to figure out myself. Please be patient as it might take a while.

@Dataghost:
If you need someone for testing, you can let me know because my camera also has 1.01b firmware.

Good luck!

Best regards,
tommi

I want to learn HOW to port dryos over mi s5is 1.01a...and maybe i can give you some help...make a kind of "guide for stupid developers" please...i think that a hundred people working on disassembling firmware can find more than one...So dataghost , ewavr , jeff, grand, can compile and assemble and study better chdk release...

i think...maybe...

Thanks for the update DataGhost.  It's been fun reading through the history of this project. I think everyone here is excited to see any updates, no matter how trivial. (makes me wish I knew the first thing about traversing disassembly).

Your efforts are hugely appreciated - as is for all the other developers tinkering away with the S5 and other models.

Good luck, hope the exams went well!

As a matter of fact... I spent some time moving my stuff around yesterday and.. well, here's something to hang on to:
http://stack.dataghost.com/S5-a-b110.mp4

I still have to fix a couple of things, hook the important bits, remove all the hacks, move code in the proper sourcefiles, finish some stuff and test, test, test. I still can't give any ETA but it's looking good :)
