Configurable dark frame substraction

I can see that "dark frame substraction" only has 3 modes: on, off and auto.
would it be possible to have it basically in a configurable "auto" mode in which the substraction happens only for exposures of more than a chosen exposure time?
such as configuring it for x seconds and having it take pictures with the substraction "off" for exposures of under x seconds and substraction "on" for exposures of over x seconds

It shouldn't be too hard to add. That is essentially what the canon firmware does in auto, aside from not letting you set x and (on some cameras at least) factoring in other things like sensor temperature.

You could also do this with a script.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
