Right now, Canon 40D's maximum ISO is 3200 (called "High" or "H")   However, sometimes I would like to go even to ISO6400 despite the obvious noise.  Is it possible to create some hack so higher (and/or lower like ISO 50) ISOs can be selected?

I might be wrong but you can emulate that in Photoshop - edit/adjustment/exposure... and type 1 in the exposure box. Essentially those 'high' ISO values are post-processing effects.

boosting it that high would be impractical anyways (unless you mean to shoot grainy stills)
