Optical zoom in the video does not work, if I activate "Enable optical zoom?
Script "Zoom and Focus video" is working well.

unfortunately i cannot format my 4 gb card using fat 16, the camera doesnt give me this option, and when i try to format it with the computer (windows xp) via usb card reader it only gives me the option fat 32 (no fat 16 available).
can someone help, please?

Try this

Bootable SD card - CHDK Wiki

Now i am stuck with a new issue. how do you partition a SD card in Windows?
Nothing seems to work here.. So i guess i will switch back to the 2 GB card for now.

andremetal: i have already tried that and it's still not working, i cannot format fat 16 under win xp.

besides, as i've read here that chdk modification adds 5 cm to the minimum available for macro shooting, i'm not so happy with that, as i shoot a lot in macro, and i wouldnt love to hav 10 cm minimum for focus, instead of 5 cm as i have now.

There's no need for partition a 4 GB card !
You can format it with FAT16 either in a Windows command line (just type format X: /fs:fat where X: ist the drive letter of your mounted SD-card in your card reader) or you can do it easily with CardTricks, with this tool you can also make your SD card bootable with a single click...

No - CHDK do NOT change the distance range - the post was about different values that are shown on the CHDK OSD...

fe50: ok, but i've also found out on that link (actually on another i've got from that one, still wiki, chdk for dummies - lets put chdk in the card) that it's better to wait for an official release of chdk version, unless i don't wanna take some chances to find my camera broken.
any advice on this would be appreciated: is this chdk beta version reliable or i better wait for it to become "official"?

@ cyro - A 3V battery may not be enough. e.g.: the A570IS is reported to need 4.5V
ref: CameraFeatures - CHDK Wiki

Concerning the remote shutter release cable, I can confirm that a 3V CR2032 did not work, so I am using a 4.5 V 3R12 battery. It seems to work.
