Found another thing in relation with RAW shooting, while experimenting with exposure bracketing in continuous mode.

The good news first: Bracketing works fine if only JPGs are written to the card. If also RAW data are written to the card the camera locks up after a few shots.

Edit: Forget it, maybe it is just my shutter release cable. Just checked  without it and everyting was ok! Maybe the battery is too hefty. I will test further.

Edit2: I investigated a bit further. It does not have to do anything with RAW shooting. It has rather something to do with the shutter release in continuous mode. If I trigger the shutter, it does not stop shooting,  even if I unplug the cable! Maybe someone else with a cable can check that?

@andremetal

if your talking about ma_jk's build in Reply #94: look at version.txt in the root of your card:
internal version 0.6.2, based on trunk source version 534

Found another thing:
In play mode it is not possible to browse the pictures immediately. One has to hit one of the cross buttons 14 - 16 times, before one can navigate the pictures.

So the only little bugs I found yet are:

- DOF calculator shows wrong focus point (5cm offset)
- Zoom values are not correct (Step 7 should show 4x, isn't it?)
- Am not sure, if the manual focus overrides work properly
(Maybe the A570 source is of help here...)

- Continuous mode does not stop firing if triggered with shutter release cable
- Navigation in play mode only possible after hitting cross buttons repeatedly

While overriding ISO settings the Canon software shows ISO 32 min and ISO 8000 max. Do not know if this has something to say.

Played a bit with high speed photography and flash synchro. It is possible to freeze water droplets in flight! Great! Long time 64 sec. exposures also work properly, cool for night shots!

Exposure bracketing with custom timer also went ok! So no need to use a shutter release cable for HDR.

So cool, that the noise reduction can be switched off, great for "grainy" black and white shots without too much loss of detail.

And the OSD layout editor is also quite cool, excellent customizability.

Overall a lot to explore and enjoy!  Amazing how CHDK brings this camera to it's full potential! :D

woohoo!

I have a 1.01b and am using a Sandisk Ultra II 4GB SDHC card... formatted to FAT using CardTricks and have CHDK working :)

I did some test shots for RAW output, and played around with the zebra indicators... love the live histogram...

Man, I really REALLY appreciate your work on this, you've made me very happy :D

Hi, I changed override shutter speed to 1/100,000, but it didn't work for me. All the pics still it shooting at 1/500.
Also, how do I override aperture to get high aperture values like F22?

Thanks. :xmas

I was a bit disappointed with the JPEG artifacting on this camera, but now with RAW support using CHDK, the picture quality is improved dramatically!

Check out the difference in noise, banding, macroblocks, etc between the two images
