Hey, I just got my first digital camera, an A590IS. :) I'm very interested in HDR photography, and I believe I have installed the CHDK properly, but I seem to be rather than getting one or two RAW files, a CRW and JPEG file. They also seem to come out with different dimensions, so I do not believe it is possible to make HDR photos. (Note: The JPEG might be the camera processing the CRW for me? I'm not quite sure, but I think I saw an option in the menu)

If anybody would be able to give me some assistance, and would have an AIM, MSN, or YIM handle that we could discuss this over, that would be great, as I am going on a trip to Washington D.C. this weekend and would like to take some beautiful pictures there.

Thanks, and keep up the good work! :)

@bugmenot: CRW is a raw file (Canon Raw -> CRW (?))

All raw files should be the same dimensions, for an A590 it will always be 8 megapixels.

The jpeg might be a different dimension to the raw if you've set your camera to save photos in Small, Medium or Wide format, I think this setting is at the bottom of the function menu.

For HDR you need to set up the bracketing options to get photos at different exposures.

@bugmenot

CHDKs exposure bracketing is definately working with ma_jk's port. Read the manual, especially the section about the bracketing options. You will get multiple RAW files that you can merge with the tool of your choice.

TIP: Use the custom timer mode for taking exposure stacks.

I've got my a590 camera back from service center. I had one hot pixel. After service center this pixel have disappeared and two another have appeard. I've read in the wiki that allbest build have feature with pixel mapping. But I still can't understand what you uploading to the camera. As I understanf there are few builds like AllBest and that's it. And this chdk you uploading to the camera, does it have pixel mapping?

Thank you for the help! I tried looking for the continuous shooting info in my camera manual. However the logo that was there does not appear to be on my camera anymore in the Drive mode section. Either way, I found another thing in the Drive Mode section that appears to be similar, but the times between shots are very large(considering I will probably not have any or many opportunities to use a tripod on this trip), the smallest time being 1 second. Is it possible that I'm just not finding the right setting, or is this just because my camera is not high end?

Thanks so much guys, I'm fairly new to photography and you all are a big help. :)
