Here i am again.
i passed (i think) the boot process. I have successfully spawn spy_task and PhySw... but at the same time i cant open any file on the card, i.e. if inside core_spytask i try to open(filename, O_RDONLY, 0777) it just returns 0.
What am i doing wrong??

0 is a valid file handle. -1 would be failure.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

OK, here we go, for firmware 100e.
Got stable boot and OSD shows up; still no rec mode but i have no time at the moment, and thats why im asking for someone to bugtest.

BTW, is it possible to change the subject of the topic?

AFAIK if you created the thread, you should be able to change it's title: just goto first post, click modify and change the title ...
follow-up posts' title will not change though, you can only change your own posts.

[edit: should have said existing follow-up posts' titles)

Awesome ma_jk! And awesome everyone else helping him in any way! I'm stunned at the speed this is coming along. For such a long time there was no progress and now suddenly it has all exploded. :D

You guys with 1.00E cameras make sure you give him all the bugtesting he needs! (Sadly I can't, my camera is the 1.01B version)

Great progress ma_jk! I would love to beta test, but unfortunately my cam also has the 101b firmware. I have the arm-crosscompiler suite, the firmware dump and the source trunk on my linux partition. If there is anything I can do let me know.

As far as i can tell, after a first run of finsig on 101b dump, 99% of stubs are in the same place as 100e.
Ill be able to fiddle with another camera on monday so... in the meanwhile u could give it a try :)

Plus, ill post my sources after ive cleaned them a bit.

Hi ma_jk,

congrats to your first build! I've been eagerly awaiting this, and since I have a cam which says it's firmware version is GM1.00E, E18, dated Jan 8 2008, I figured I could help and test this build.
I got a new Panasonic 1GB SD card (for reference: model RP-SDR01G) today and successfully followed the available instructions for using cardtricks on it. I can see the DISKBOOT.BIN and ver.req on the card afterwards. I locked it and placed it in the cam, but sadly, the only thing I get is a "card locked" message in playback mode, and a reduced menu in shooting mode (including another "card locked" message). Shooting is, as you may guess, impossible.

Maybe I'm just missing something very obvious, since I'm a first time user of this.
If someone has a hint for me, I'd be grateful.

Keep up the fantastic work, ma_jk (and all other contributors to this port and CHDK in general) - I'm amazed by the potential it adds to our cameras. Thanks a lot to all of you,
cheers,

Cyro
