Hey guys, i just ruined my brand new A590IS out of stupidity. It fell from my hands and the lens got stuck. In my desperate attempt to fix it i broke some cables and now there's nothing i can do about it. I'm about to buy a new one, and if you need some pictures of the insides of the A590IS, for whatever reason, i'd be more than happy to supply you with some.

if you dont plan to sell it - hell, why woulndt we want pictures of the a590 innards? go for it :D

New a590-101b-0.9.7-720-full.zip!  :)

What's new in a590-101b-0.9.7-720-full.zip for the A590IS?

Can you mute the video now?

What are you using to view the raw images ? Some programs (Picasa for example) just transform the 10 bit raw in such a way that it uses the full dynamic range of your display. The result is that images with wildly different exposures look the same.

Your hot pixel isn't actually 3x3 either, because you are looking at it after de-bayering. Maybe there are two hot red pixels there, or maybe there's one and the rest is an artifact of the software you are using. Either way, defective pixels and hot pixels are present on consumer digital camera. The in camera processing tends to make them less apparent.

I used dcraw, and i opened it with irfanview.
is there a way to see those red, green and blue "pictures" without having them debayered?

dcraw -D
will output a greyscale image without debayering. You won't see the actual pixel values because it's going from 10 to 8 bit. You can use -4 to force 16 bit output, which should give you the actual pixel values but is harder to view in a meaningful way. Use -T for tiff output.
