The wiki you must read, young jedis. An answer to all your questions you will find there. Morebest manual, that is.

Yeah, this thread starts looking rather like a chatroom than like a forum. ;) I found the manual quite informative. And there is an IRC channel too, btw.

@alecsus27: Looks quite like the shots I took yesterday.  :)

However, I played a bit more with exposure bracketing. There is indeed a problem if writing RAW is enabled. Sometimes data are written, but all except the first shot of the stack are totally overexposed, sometimes the camera locks up if the secound RAW should be written.

It feels, as if the camera wants to shoot faster than it can write to the card. Somehow these two processes are out of sync in RAW mode.

If I save  JPEGs only everything seems to be fine.

Edit: Hmm, RAW saving in continuous mode worked fine today with a different sd card and way smaller JPGs . Probably it's just me.

whim: i see, looks like i'll have to disable chdk and then shoot the exact same thing in normal 1/2000, then to check the difference with the one overriden with 1/8000

ok, i made it simpler: just shoot the same thing with shutter overidden at 1/2000, 1/8000, 1/16000 and 1/30000 of a second. here are the results (IMG_09401, 09411, 09421 and 09431 respectively). i for myself didnt notice much of a difference. and still: one can see that the smaller the exposure, the darker the image gets - which is an indication that less light came in as smaller the time the aperture was opened - which should be proof that the shutter speed overriding really worked (at first picture, taken with 1/2000, the iso was 200, but i dont think that affected much the image - the others were taken with iso 100).
its true that i would have also preferred as proof of effective shutter speed overridding a more clear dividing of water drops in the image.
for some reason the first image is overexposed (i doubt it was because of iso 200) but one still can notice the drops of water.

ok, stil i have this qustion (partially shown by "cyro" also): in "extra photo operations" the first is "disable overrides" and this one has 3 options: "on", "off" and "disable". which option should i have to have overriding enabled? if i leave it to "on" one may understand that "disable overrides" is "on" so the overrides are disabled, right?
on the other hand what effect have "disable" and "off" options?
thank you for your answer.

The FULL DOCU POWER is here: CHDK wikia, also in german, italian, bulgarian & chinese, use the search function, read the FAQ & MANUALS (New manual, firmware usage, Allbest firmware usage , , *END-USERS-GUIDE & many, many more stuff) !

...e.g. for this:

the answer is there: CHDK wikia - CHDK/MoreBest#Disable_Overrides

...remember: this is A590IS porting...  ;)

*EDIT: also from the CHDK wikia: 'CHDK channel in IRC Chat! server: freenode.net/#chdk or JAVA - come chat with the devs or ask questions... '

fe50: thanks a bunch. in the mean time, i really need help (havent been to that link as yet, i will go right now, but still:) at some moment i've noticed 2-3 parameters on the lcd screen were blinking, so i went to "debug" and click on "debug parameters" (or something like that) - or maybe i set it to "on", dont remember, anyway, the sad thing that happened was that the screen went black. dead.
i tried several times to shut/open the camera, but all happened was that the objective went inside and then came outside and remained outside. the screen went only for 2-3 second alive, and then it went black again. i tried also to take out the batteries and card and put them back - to no avail.
still, when i set the camera to "play" mode, ive managed to shut it and the objective remained inside.
what should i do now? where have i gone wrong?
thanks for your help!

I checked the more/best wikia, and saw how to override aperture, but try as I might, I can't find how to do it on the beta firmware for the A590. Where is it?

I want to go to F10 and 1/100,000 with the onboard flash at full power which will trigger two external strobes via optical triggers.
