I'm new to this CHDK, it is really impressive. Unfortunately, there isn't a version for the SX100 yet. I just acquired the SX100 a month back and it would be great to have a version for it to extend its capabilities.

I have limited knowledge of CHDK porting, but I tried dumping my firmware using the universal dumper. Here's my minimal contribution. Looking forward to the port.  ::)

I dumped the firmware of my SX100 (firmware version 1.00C), but there are some minor differences to your 1.00C.

zSHARE - sx100_1.00c.zip

Here's what the ver.req thing says:
Code: [Select]
Canon Powershot SX100 IS
P-ID:315E NT D

Firmware Ver GM1.00C
NoError
Aug 29 2007 15:27:50

(next page:)
Adj. Ver.009.005

I find it kinda weird that there are those differences. For example: osprey23's 1.00C dump contains the name "Terence Kew" several times, mine doesnt.

Maybe this is "owner's name", stored in flash (can be set using ZoomBrowser).

edit: This "owner's name" also stored in EXIF data.

Seems like there's nothing much happening with the SX100 port.

Can the gurus provide some guide (steps) for me to attempt to create a port for the SX100?

Thanks!

osprey23, I found some possibly interesting pointers here:

Porting chdk to the G9

I would love to be of any help here, but I'm quite a noob in this field (both CHDK and porting) and I've had little time to spend on it so far.

I just bought a SX100 and after reading this a day later I'm So tempted to take it back and get a A720... trying to resist urge.

Anyhow does anyone have any progress at all?  I'd be willing to join an effort in progress.  I may even try to code myself but I always sucked at ASM.

I pray that one day we can live in a world where Canon firmware and CHDK software can live together in peace on the SX 100  :P
