Yes they will because they are triggered from the same infrared signal.

That does not mean precision synch (typically 1/10,000 sec) will not be compromised.

On the switch being released, the output of the receivers would have to go low with that amount of time difference at the most ... otherwise synch is compromised.

Maybe it does, maybe it does not.

Maybe it is constant, maybe random.
You can test it by photographing a CRT screen with two cameras.

Of course, this will not be of concern to 2D photographers.

@Dirk:

Nice job on the layout and etching and SURFACE MOUNT!!! You must have one heck of a basement!

It would certainly be easy enough to build a dual cable operating from a single receiver. How much will they cost?

In looking back at the video, I see that there is much more here than simply a remote trigger. This looks like it is for those cameras that can be connected to a computer to control operation.

Can you give us an idea of what it will control?

@David,

As usual, thanks for the input!  :)

The price will be something about 30 euros per receiver. My target was 50 euros for receiver, remote and cable.

Firmware development ist still ongoing i have some nice features.

  • CHDK Mode (with the above mentioned Features 80...480ms in 80ms steps, repetition rate 600ms)
  • CHDK fast Mode (30...180ms in 30ms steps, repeat rate decreasing from 600ms...200ms depending on how long the button is pressed)
  • Ricoh CA1 emulation (emulates the RICOH cable remote, but wireless)

... three more modes are possible. Ideas?

@cybercom The receiver converts all 6 buttons into pulses, my current script can control the zoom & shutter with the remote.

Regards,

Dirk

Hi !

I added some features, which are now standard for all receivers.

You can change the sleep timer timeout. In the previous version it was fixed at 2min. now it is possible to configure it to 2, 5, 10, 15, 30min. Factory default is 2min.

When the receiver is on, a long press on the MENU button enters the settings menu. As indication for this mode the green LED will turn on. With +/- you can change the sleep time (+) increases by one step (-) decreases. Pressing the PLAY (>|) button resets the sleep timer to 2min.  The remote indicates the setting with blink codes. 1 flash 2min. 2 flashes 5min., 3 flashes 10min...

Preliminary testing with my newly received unit brought a smile to my face!

Remote works fine, triggering a TX-1 for shooting both stills and video.

An enclosure will be a necessity because the detector was affected by room illumination making it appear to act intermittently. Once I shaded it with my hand, it began working reliably.

I just used the most basic settings for the receiver and the >|| button on the transmitter. As I get time to experiment more I'll report additional findings.

Great job Dirk!!!  :D
