Hi, quick question here. I was looking for Av mode on the PowerShot SD8780 but from what I've heard, this camera doesn't have an aperture, and that ND Filter is the closest way to approximate this.
On the Allbest build for this camera (ixus860_sd870-100c-0.5.5-529-full.zip), the ND Filter options are In/Out/Off. Can someone explain what these actually mean? I seem to always be shooting in F/2.8 and I'd like to get to F/8 at least if I could.
Hello & welcome funboy !
In -> ND Filter is active, max. F-stop, F/8 (the ND filter is in the optical path)
Out -> ND Filter is not active, min. F-stop, F/2.8 (the ND filter is not in the optical path)
Off -> No CHDK override - let the camera control the ND filter...
The F stops for the SD870 are F/2.8 - F/8.0 (without zoom, with zoom they are F/5.6 - F/16).
The F stop override is NOT shown in the EXIF information, the Canon OSD also do not show overrides...
The ND filter can also be controlled within scripts with
set_nd_filter [0,1,2]The ND filter override doesn't work in continuous / timer modes...
