Remote shooting and picture retrieval controlled by computer?

I have browsed the posts on this forum and done some searching, can't find the answer.

I would like to remote control my G9 from my computer (in this case a MacBook Pro), basically these two features:

1 -Remote trigger
2 -Fetch resulting photo

And I would like to have several G9's connected to the same computer. I read about the eyefi-card, but I don't want to be tied to their web service.

Is this doable through scripting?

Regards Sebastian

Have you checked out Gphoto ? It is (being?) ported to MacOS Download and Install gphoto2  version 2.3.1 on Mac OS X

(google 'gphoto' and 'gphoto on macos')

note: this is just a research hint, not using mac myself

In it's current form CHDK can't help there (scripts and remote shutter can be used for the shooting, but for transferring the images you'd need to be in PLAY mode and use Canon's normal PTP commands).

But G9 is one of the cameras listed in Canon's remote capture SDK, so it's probably able to do this from Canon's or 3rd party utilities, maybe even by gphoto. Gphoto will probably not have problems with multiple cameras at least on Linux, other utils or OSes may.
