Guys please give me some advice about that UsmMinFreqError thing. Is it a defect that I should worry about? Google shows only two results, and one of them directs to this very thread. HELPPPP! :(

USM = Canon's UltraSonicMotor --> canon.com - usm, some usm pics...

The zoom objective of the SX10 works with such a USM; probably there was an error while focusing / zooming
(i guess "UsmMinFreqError" stands for "USM Minimum Frequency Error").
Normally the line after the error in the ver.req info shows the last appearance of the error,
so yo can observe how often the error appears; if the date don't change (=no new errors) and
the camera works well it should be nothing to worry about...

btw - this is the SX10 porting thread  ;)

Thanks, fe50! I kinda knew about the usm thing, but not what to expect from the error. The line next to that shows March 13th. I have been using chdk exclusively since the first BETA release, almost everyday. So probably that was an isolated incident (may be battery went out). I'm relieved. Thanks a lot to you. Now don't tell me you don't feel good about it as well. I'd not bother you guys had I known a better location of sx10 UsmMinFreqError thread...:P

I have been watching this thread since mid January in hopes of chdk being developed for 1.01b. Is one going to be developed for it and if so any idea when? I would be more then willing to help however I can. I would try doing it myself, but the only code I can write is enough html/xml/java to create and manage a few websites.

Dump for 1.02B

For everyone who might want to get a dump for another firmware version, here's some tips from my experience:
a) CardTricks does not work on a Windows Vista machine.  XP is okay.
b) A 4GB card does not work, but a 16MB (that's small mega-butes) does.

I've decided that I am too old to learn the new tricks to help in the development.  So I will wait for some kind soul to get to this version 1.02B.

Thanks.

First of all, I'd like to thank the developers who worked on the CHDK port for the SX10. My only complaint about this camera was the lack of RAW support.

But now I have a couple quick questions. When I am capturing the DNG file, there is a long delay in the time after the shutter closes and the camera is ready for another photo. Is there anything I can do to expedite this process?

Also, when I am in Av mode and I want to bracket a shot, I use the camera's built in bracketing feature in addition to CHDK's continuous bracketing. However, it always seems to lock up the camera and completely render it useless until I remove the batteries and then replace them. Am I doing this wrong? I would appreciate some ideas as HDR photography is a realm that I would like to get into.

Thanks for your time,

-Lautriv
