fe50, thanks for the help.  However, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but can you be a bit more detailed with how to run the script?  When I select the script with func/set, nothing happens.  How do I run it?

Ok, then follow me...
- power your cam on, half-press the shutter to go to record mode
- press PRINT, then press FUNC/SET
- select "Load script from file", go 2 steps down to the TEST/ folder, press FUNC/SET
- select "BADPIXEL.LUA", press FUNC/SET
- start the script with the SHUTTER !
- wait until you see "press SET to save....."
- press FUNC/SET to store the badpixel.bin automatically in the right place

- press PRINT to leave the <Alt> mode, press PRINT again to enter <Alt> mode
- press MENU, go to the "RAW parameters", enter it with FUNC/SET
- enable the settings "Save RAW" , "DNG format" and "DNG file extension"
- press PRINT to leave the <Alt> mode again

Now RAW saving in DNG format is enabled, transfer the DNG files with a card reader...

Thanks so much!  The RAW in DNG format totally works!

One more question/issue: I followed the directions in the readme, but I cannot get my camera to boot the CHDK automatically.  Can you give me instructions on how to do it?

I tried selecting "make memory card bootable" option, then taking out the card and switching it to "lock".  The CHDK did not boot.  Help?

PS-  I really appreciate the help, and thanks for taking time to explain this stuff to me.  I'm really really excited to be able to shoot in RAW!

You should read a bit in the CHDK wiki... FAQ, FAQ ...autoload

Then read more about CHDK: go to the CHDK wikia and follow the links there:

Don't start in record mode. Start in "playback" mode by pressing the play button. Wait a few seconds and you"ll see the chdk startup image. Now half-press the shutter to go to record mode and you're done!

EWAVR,
Can you please find a way to keep the iso fixed in video mode? The ISO automatically changes during video recording with change in available light. This causes undesirable noise in the video. Please tell me if it's at all possible with chdk, or hardware modification is required. Thanks in advance.

Oh, one more question: How do you guys partition sd/sdhc cards?

--> CHDK Menu: Miscellaneous stuff -> Debug Parameters -> Create card with two partitions
(creates a small 2MB partition + a big one with the rest)

OK. That did it. Thanks. What should be the ideal allocation sizes? And does volume name have any role?
