Integration in a render engine's physical camera model ?

Hi all,

I'm radiance from the luxrender project (Lux Render)

I'm currently developing a physically based camera model for our open-source physically correct renderer. (aka raytracer)

I'm currently working on modeling the mechanical aspects, and am interested in planning to add more functionality to as closely as possible match a real world D-SLR.

I'm not familiar with digicam firmware, and neither with this project (found it trough google).

Is there stuff in CHDK i could use ?

I'd like to have my implementation do all the software based magic that modern digicams do,
eg the steps from raw radiance values coming from the CCD (i can model an APS-C sensor or equiv and apply a spectral response curve) all the way trough what goes onto your memory-card.

Some feedback and ideas welcome :)
