hello everybody, I'm a new guy from China. I have a question want to discuss with you.

As you know, we can set the "Battery Min Voltage" in "Battery showing setting" menu, For example 2200MV. and i think canon will set a Voltage (I called V-off)which when the battery's volatge lower than the V-off, the camera will power off automatic, right?

What I want to know is : when we set the "Battery Min Voltage", does we change the camera's defaut set of the V-off or not?

no, by setting min voltage you do not change the "poweroff treshold". you can however set the min voltage to the "v-off" voltage, so that the percent OSD item will reflect the right battery state. if you set the correct min & max values, you know that by 10% the battery is almost empty, for example.

does  somebody know the value of "V-off" for 570is?
maybe I must show the voltage on screen and waiting for the camera auto-power off, write down the voltage at the moment?

My a570is shuts down at 2.0 V quite regularly. But please note that NiMH discharge voltage curve is not linear in the end, it drops quite rapidly when it's empty (like most other battery types). So, at 2.1 V you are already very close to shutdown, especially if you work the motors (zoom) or flash.

It's possible that cold, old or low quality batteries will make the camera shut down at a seemingly higher voltage than that.

Because of all this, I never use the battery icons (I hope we can someday remove Canon's warning blinker too) and just have CHDK display the voltage instead... I'm plenty happy with it. :D
