Shooting Fireworks with MDFB-080716 script - Advice wanted

Hi,

I'm planing on shooting fireworks using my ixus 70, Allbest CHDK and the MDFB-080716 script. (all installed and working fine!)

Having no opportunity to practice till the big night (Battersea Guy fawkes night fireworks) in London I would appreciate any help or tips on script settings beyond the defaults. Ideally I want to spend as much time as possible watching the show, rather than 'fiddling' with the settings.

Is there is a better script or approach? any thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Mike

I'm afraid you can either watch the show or photograph it but not both, really, at least not properly...Even without CHDK or MD, there are choices to be made, but with MD you have even more to choose from.

That said, fireworks photos often look better in longer exposures unless you are in for realistic images.

Guys,

Thanks for your replies. I'll try the method in the 'fireworks' post (not sure why i didn't find it when I searched - sorry)

A couple of questions:

1/ Am I correct in understanding the 'override shutter value' set via the 'alt' menu will work when the script is running? - or should i be setting this via the standard 'function' menu using the 'long shutter mode' ?

2/ Would I be better to use the script and the camera's 'Firework' mode rather than manually setting the exposure myself (as in (1) above (and using the script)

Thanks again for your help and all the work on chdk , it makes me grin every time the camera boots up !

Regards,

Mike
